JLM can assist in choosing the right approach to financing wind power installation — either through capital expenditure or via a range of asset finance products.

Option 1

CapEx

Depending on the available incentives at the time of purchase, capital expenditure may be the most economical approach for your wind power installation, allowing you to depreciate the assets over time to further reduce overall expenditure.

Option 2

Asset Finance

JLM can also advise you on appropriate finance products that allow you to spread the cost of wind power installation over time, improve cash flow and tax efficiency, and offer the option to own the assets at the end of the term.

A deposit and regular payments with ownership at the end of the term.

Regular payments, with the system returned after the term.

As a general guideline, an average wind speed of at least 5m/s is required for a wind turbine to work efficiently. As part of the initial consultation process, JLM can help you assess the wind speeds at your location and the most suitable locations for turbine installation.

Can I sell surplus electricity generated by my wind turbine?

Yes, businesses can often sell excess electricity generated by their wind turbines back to the grid through programs like the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) in the UK. This provides an additional revenue stream for your business, particularly during periods of low energy consumption or high wind speeds.

What are the maintenance and running costs associated with wind turbines?

Wind turbines generally have a lifespan of 20-25 years, with some parts requiring replacement during this time. JLM offers regular maintenance checks as part of our support service — helping to prolong the working lifespan of your solution, as well as carrying out inverter replacement or battery storage replacement if needed.

Do I need planning permission to install a wind turbine at my business premises?

Planning permission requirements for wind turbines vary depending on the region and the size of the system.
