Everything You Need To Know About Biomass Boilers

Biomass boilers are boilers which burns biomass fuel; this is sourced from organic matter, such as wood. They behaviour is likened to that of an oil or gas boiler, however biomass boilers are automatic, meaning they can regulate the amount of fuel used.Biomass boilers are also incredibly energy efficient.

Unlike fossil fuels which are a rapidly depleting source of sustainable energy, the carbon being realised into the atmosphere from this eco-friendly way of heating has no harmful effect. This is because biomass fuel can be sourced from a “closed carbon cycle” system.

What this essentially means is that the amount of carbon emitted from burning fuel is balanced out by the tree plantation, as trees need carbon dioxide to grow.

What’s even better is that provided that the boiler is MCS-accredited, you will be eligible for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) government scheme. They explain RHI “is a government financial incentive to promote the use of renewable heat. Switching to heating systems that use eligible energy sources can help the UK reduce its carbon emissions and meet its renewable energy targets”. For every kilowatt-hour of heat produced, the government will pay you quarterly for 7 years.
